On the evening of January 15, 2024, Jane “Wifey” passed away peacefully at Ridge Meadows Hospital with family by her side.
Jane was born in Uithoorn, Netherlands, on December 22, 1934. After the war, Jane and her family (nine siblings) immigrated to Canada in May 1951.
Jane married the love of her life, Albert Formosa, in Powell River on September 6, 1958. They shared 65 beautiful years together and were blessed with four boys, four daughters-in-law, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Jane and Albert loved to travel. They spent the winters at Lake Havasu in their motorhome, where they made many lifelong friends. They also loved spending their time in Malta with family and made a special last trip in May 2023 at the ages of 88 and 91.
Jane truly lived life to the fullest. She is survived by her loving husband Albert; children Fred (Terri), Jim (Diane), Larry (Shirley) and Brian (Brenda); grandchildren Mike (Daisy), Tyler (Alyssa), Derrick (Sam), Carly (Josh), Brianne, Brandon, Kurtis (Tara), Scott, Courtney (Alex), Candace (Matt) and Alyssa; great-grandchildren Lennon and Max; and her brothers Gordie, Tom, Jim and Ted.
Jane was so proud of her family and will be greatly missed by all of them and her many friends. She impacted so many people’s lives with her strength, positivity, kindness and unconditional love for those around her. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 22561-121st Avenue, Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Society.
