Sheila Plisson passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Stanley Plisson in 2021 and son Gary Plisson in 2014. She is survived by son Doug Plisson (Elizabeth) and daughter-in-law Laurie, grandchildren Jennifer (Jackie), Kim (Scott), Brent (Stacey), Joseph and Kelsey, and great-grandchildren Alessa, Cowan, Seth, Rhys and Makenna.
A longtime resident of Powell River, Sheila was born in Rumsey, Alberta, and lived for a time in Oregon before she and her father settled in Powell River when she was a young girl.
Sheila and Stan married in 1949 and enjoyed many outdoor adventures like travelling in their camperized Volkswagen van, fishing and boating on the waters around Powell River, and camping in their fifth wheel around BC and down to Arizona and Nevada. Also, they enjoyed trips to New Zealand, Britain, and Hawaii.
Sheila owned a florist shop called The Flowerpot on Marine Avenue and enjoyed flower arranging all her life. As a part of the Agricultural Association Fall Fair, she won awards for her booth displays. For many years, Sheila was a dedicated volunteer at the Economy Shop.
The family wishes to thank Sheila's caregivers Jeanette, Jennifer and Sharon, VCH caregivers, her doctors and all at Willingdon Creek for their kindness and care. They also thank Sheila's wonderful neighbours.
A celebration of life for Sheila and Stan will be held from 1 to 3 pm at Cranberry Seniors Centre, 6792 Cranberry Street, on Sunday, February 4.
