It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Peter, also known to many as Petros, who died peacefully at Willingdon Creek Village. He was predeceased by his wife Rena in 2011.
Peter was born in Athens, Greece, where he was taxi driving until he decided to move to Germany and lived there for two to three years, also taxi driving. He then decided to immigrate to Canada, where he met Rena in Vancouver and got married in 1966.
In 1972, Peter and Rena moved to Powell River, where he worked at MacMillan Bloedel until he retired in 1989.
Peter loved fishing and gardening. He had the most amazing cactus plants that would produce hundreds of flowers. He also enjoyed the company of his friends going out for lunches and dinners.
A big thank-you to the staff and volunteers at Willingdon Creek for their kind and compassionate care, and a very special thank-you to Dr. Evans for his years of kind and patient care.
Peter leaves behind his godson Gerry Golfinopoulos and his family, John and Dina Golfinopoulos, and his good friends Mary, Eileen, Gus, Joyce, Helena and Gracie. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by us all.
There will be a funeral service at 10:30 am on Monday, February 5, at Assumption Church.
