FALL SEASON: The Weatherhood forecast for Wednesday, October 2 is for a temperature high of 14 degrees Celsius in the daytime and a low of 6 degrees overnight. The photo above was taken on one of the Duck Lake Protected Area trails.

The Weatherhood station above the Peak office on Marine Avenue is forecasting a high of 14 degrees with sun and cloud throughout the day today, Wednesday, October 2. Thursday, October 3, the daytime temperature will be 12 degrees. Friday there is a 99 per cent chance of rain showers for most of the day.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is predicting a slightly warmer than average October for BC's coastal communities. The World Meteorological Organization forecasts a 55 per cent chance of a transition from the current neutral conditions to La Niña conditions from now until November 2024. This means a possibility of a cooler winter for western Canada. But, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) expects this climate pattern to be weak and short in duration.
