Victoria edges Powell River Kings to close BCHL preseason

Grizzlies build three goal lead and hang on to win; clubs will meet in regular season opener this weekend

Powell River Kings concluded the preseason portion of their BC Hockey League (BCHL) schedule on Sunday, September 15, with a 5-4 loss to Victoria Grizzlies.

Jaxon Fuder scored once and set up a pair of goals for the Kings, who trailed 5-2 in the third period before closing the gap with two goals in the final five minutes of play. Michael Mardula, Max Jelavic and Marek Beaudoin also scored for the visiting Kings.

Powell River outshot Victoria 46-43. Both teams converted on two power play opportunities.

Kings open the regular season at home versus the Grizzlies on Friday, September 20. Game time at Hap Parker Arena is 7 pm.
