Powell River Kings fall to Nanaimo in BCHL exhibition game

Clippers prevent home team from scoring for second time in as many days

Nanaimo Clippers handed Powell River Kings a second straight shutout loss on Sunday, September 8, at Hap Parker Arena.

A power play goal by the visitors late in the first period stood up as the winner. Clippers added an even strength marker with 1:20 left in the game and a third goal into an empty net with 13 seconds to play to win the BC Hockey League preseason game 3-0.

Cooper Flemming made 31 saves for the Kings, who were outshot 34-32.

Twenty-four hours earlier, Alberni Valley Bulldogs shut out Powell River, also at Hap Parker Arena.

Kings play their final two preseason games on September 14 and 15 in Cowichan and Victoria. The latter visits Powell River for game one of the regular season on Friday, September 20.
