Powell River Kings built a three goal lead in their BC Hockey League (BCHL) preseason game against Cranbrook Bucks on Friday, September 15, but the East Kootenay team battled back to force overtime.

Matthew Lee, Anthony Lucarelli, Noah Eyre and Adam Mendelson scored first period goals for the Kings, who led 4-1 after 20 minutes of play at Cominco Arena in Trail. Cranbrook replied with a pair of goals in the second period and one in the final frame to set the stage for overtime, which solved nothing.

Powell River capitalized on three of four attempts in the shootout, one better than Cranbrook, to earn a 5-4 win, their second in four preseason games so far.

Shots were 44 to 35 in favour of the Kings, who play Prince George today (September 16), also in Trail.
