Twenty-four hours after being shut out by the same team at home, Powell River Kings bounced back with a 6-5 overtime win over the visiting Coquitlam Express on Saturday, November 9, also in Hap Parker Arena.

Thomas Belzil scored twice for Powell River, including the game winner 2:18 into the extra period. Brendan Giles, Wyatt Davis, Marek Beaudoin and Jake Westhaver also scored for the Kings, who squandered a three goal second period lead but rallied to lead 5-4 through 40 minutes. Coquitlam forced overtime with an early power play goal in the third period.

Belzil was named the game’s first star ahead of Coquitlam’s Max Kesselring, who scored a hat-trick and set up one goal, and Powell River captain Joel Purdom, who had two assists, was chosen as the third star.

Shots were even at 38 apiece. Attendance was 654.
