Powell River Kings hosted Alberni Valley Bulldogs on November 22 in the first of two weekend BC Hockey League games at Powell River Recreation Complex.

In his Powell River Kings debut, Noah Samanski scored the lone goal for his new team in a loss to Alberni Valley Bulldogs at Powell River Recreation Complex on Friday, November 22.

Kings held a one goal lead until the Bulldogs equalized late in the second period. The visitors scored three more unanswered goals in the final frame for a 4-1 win.

Alberni had a slight edge in shots, 31 to 29. Attendance was 849.

Samanski, who is from Erding, Germany, is the second member of his family to play for Powell River. His brother, Neal, spent parts of two seasons with the Kings, scoring 20 goals and 47 assists over 88 games during 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. Since his stint in the BC Hockey League (BCHL), Neal has played professionally for Weiden Blue Devils in Germany.

Noah also scored the only goal for the Kings in an 8-1 home loss to Alberni on November 23. He started the 2024/2025 campaign in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with Wenatchee Wild. The 19-year-old centre appeared in 12 games, scoring once and adding three assists.

In addition to the younger Samanski, Kings added a familiar face to their lineup with the return of defender Asher Wites, who played 53 with the team in 2023/2024. Wites, who is 20, began this season with Aberdeen (South Dakota) Wings of the North American Hockey League, a junior circuit in the United States.

With the win on Friday, Alberni Valley crept to within one point of BCHL Coastal Conference-leading Chilliwack Chiefs. Powell River remains in 10th place, four points behind Prince George.
