Three power play goals in the second period powered Nanaimo Clippers to a 7-2 win over Powell River Kings on Sunday, November 17.

Brendan Giles and Alex Loftgren scored for the Kings, who trailed 5-1 at the start of the third period after the teams were tied 1-1 at the first intermission.

Both teams had three power play opportunities during the game. While the Clippers were perfect with the extra attacker, the Kings were unable to convert on their trio of chances.

Due to problems with the ice surface in Hap Parker Arena, with seven minutes remaining in the second period the game was moved to the secondary rink in Powell River Recreation Complex.

Nanaimo outshot Powell River 44-33.

The two teams also met at Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo. The home team won 7-1.

Kings remain 10th in BC Hockey League Coastal Conference standings, five points behind the eighth place Clippers and four in back of Prince George Spruce Kings.
