Converting a penalty shot gave Powell River Kings life on December 6 in Surrey and kickstarted a come-from-behind win over the host Eagles.

Ben Wright's second period goal after the infraction cut a 2-0 deficit in half and was followed by Niccolo Mansueto's third goal of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) season just prior to intermission to knot the score at 2-2.

Jake Westhaver gave the Kings their first lead of the game at 8:14 of the final frame, but Surrey responded on a power play at the 15:07 mark to equalize. Mansueto set up Max Jelavic's eventual game winner 50 seconds later to secure the win. Vincent Lamberti made 30 saves for the Kings, who were outshot 39-33.

Any momentum was stalled over the next two days. Powell River fell by the same 4-3 score to Langley Rivermen on December 7, followed by another one goal loss the next day, 2-1 to Coquitlam Express. Noah Samanski (two) and Jelavic scored in Langley. Samanski also scored the lone goal in Coquitlam.

Kings host Chilliwack Chiefs for a pair of games on Friday, December 13, and Saturday, December 14, to close out the home portion of their 2024 schedule.
