Powell River Kings have announced the signing of 2006-born forward Landon Marleau.

Marleau’s father, Patrick, holds the record for the most games played in National Hockey League history (1,779 over 23 seasons), and is a two-time Olympic gold medalist.

"Landon is a young and exciting prospect," stated Kings’ head coach and general manager Stephan Seeger Jr, in a media release. "Upon reviewing video it was extremely clear that Landon thinks the game and pays close attention to detail. His size, good habits and willingness to make quick plays are a package that we believe will lead to a quick and easy transition into the BCHL."

This season, the 18-year-old from Los Gatos, California, has only played in four games, all in the North American Hockey League. Last year he played on the Southern Alberta Hockey Academy U18 prep team and had seven goals and six assists in 21 games.

"I'm impressed with his desire and maturity as a young man and player," added Seeger Jr. "I anticipate him contributing positively to our lineup immediately. And yes, he will be wearing number 12."

Marleau is expected to see his first action with the team this weekend when the team visits Surrey (December 6), Langley (December 7) and Coquitlam (December 8).
