Powell River Kings have signed 2004-born forward from Italy.
Niccolò Mansueto is from Verona, in the northern part of Italy, but has spent the last five seasons playing junior hockey in Switzerland, the last three for Lugano U20. He compiled 35 goals and 61 assists in 115 regular season games.
“Niccolò has a nice release on his shot and has good hands in tight areas,” stated Kings’ assistant general manager Stephan Seeger Jr. “He plays a fiery game with a lot of passion and creativity.”
Mansueto set career highs in goals, assists and points last season with 18 goals and 32 assists for a total of 50 points in 48 games.
The 20-year old Italian has also represented his country at the national level competing in the third tier of the 2022 World U18 Championships. In five games he had a goal and two assists as Italy won the bronze medal.
Mansueto will look to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman Simone Dadiè, who took the Kings by storm last season, instantly becoming a fan favourite and a top player in the BC Hockey League (BCHL). But Mansueto is looking to make his own mark and help the team win hockey games.
“He is the kind of young man who hates to lose,” added Seeger Jr. “He does everything in his power to help his team win. We are excited to see his transition to the North American Ice and into the Powell River community.”
