It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bev Mansell.
Beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
She was born in Trail, BC. She later moved to Kimberley, BC, where she married her first husband Dave Thorrougood, until his passing in 1983. In 1988 she remarried to Arthur Mansell until his passing of 2021.
Bev was a loving mother to Jan, Jaimie (Dan), Jason (Jaclyn), Jo-Anne, Chad (Julie) and Brian (Jen), and a wonderful grandmother to 11 grandchildren. She was a beloved member of the community who dedicated her life to helping others. She held various positions in the medical industry such as medical stenographer, ER admittance clerk, records clerk and hospital staffing.
She also played in many active roles with the Royal Canadian Legion. She has been past president of the Summerland Branch 22 and Powell River Branch 164, along with other roles such as zone commander for the Sunshine Coast. You could often find her at the Legion hosting a meal, busy with meetings or enjoying a Sunday afternoon at the meat draw.
Bev had numerous hobbies in her life: bowling, golfing, curling and all her volunteer work with the Legion. She loved cooking for her family and especially cooking the traditional Christmas Eve ravioli. She was the most caring, thoughtful individual, never wanting anything back, always giving to others. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity and her amazing lemon loaf.
“We love you thru and thru. Yesterday, today and tomorrow, too.”
Service will be held at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164, 6811 Alexander Street, Powell River, on February 10, 2024. Doors open at 12:30 pm, with starting ceremonies at 1 pm.
