It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Charles (Chuck) Frederick Sparks at the remarkable age of 98. Chuck was born and raised on a farm in Little Britain, Ontario. He moved out west, joining the army as a paratrooper and, as a veteran of World War II, ended up in Whitehorse, where he met Enid.
They married and settled in Enid’s hometown of Powell River in 1950, where they raised their three children. Chuck was always an active member of the community and worked as an electrician at the mill for 38 years.
Chuck was a 60-year member and volunteer of the legion, and volunteered for Powell River Sunset Homes Society helping to ensure safe and affordable seniors housing.
Chuck was predeceased by his loving wife Enid (née Roberts) of 58 years and sister Irene. He will be forever missed by his children Shan (Frank), Tom (Sylvia) and Diane; grandchildren Dionne, Janette, Justin, Bryan and Amanda; and great-grandchildren Elle, Marik, Emily and Kate.
A celebration of life will be held upstairs at the legion on Monday, November 18, at 1 pm. A piper will begin the ceremony promptly at 1 pm, please arrive early.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Powell River Action Centre Food Bank.
