It has come to the attention of Blackberry Festival coordinators that an individual falsely claiming to be the vendor coordinator for the upcoming Blackberry Festival Street Party is contacting vendors to collect information and payments.
“We urge all participants and interested parties to be vigilant and refrain from making any payments to unauthorized individuals,” stated Kelly Keil, the official vendor coordinator, in a media release. “The only official email address for vendor information is [email protected]. If you have been approached by someone outside of this channel, please report it to Powell River RCMP immediately, and contact your bank if any payments were made to this individual.”
In other festival news, organizers announced that this year's event will no longer feature the Festival of Lights Fireworks, sponsored by Quality Foods.
“We understand this may disappoint many attendees, but we are committed to providing a vibrant and enjoyable festival experience with almost 100 vendors and entertainers committed so far,” stated Keil.
Vendor applications are still open and will be accepted until August 1, 2024.
“We encourage all vendors in the qathet region to apply and join us in making this festival a success,” she added. “Additionally, we want to remind all entertainers that there is no fee required to participate in the festival. Your talent and participation are highly valued, and we look forward to your performances.”

“Thank you for your attention to this matter and your continued support of the Blackberry Festival.”
Blackberry Festival is hosted by Powell River Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Powell River. The street party takes place on Marine Avenue in Powell River.
