To the class of 2024, congratulations! You have demonstrated great resilience and dedication by continuing your studies through the COVID-19 pandemic.

This experience has given you a resilience to manage challenges as you navigate the next phase of your life. I hope that you will always remember that you are capable of overcoming difficult situations.

Your focus and commitment has also allowed you to be successful in many non-academic endeavours, like the innovative fundraising you did with games like "senior assassin" and "secret tag." These games built connections with fellow students that will last a lifetime.

Treasure the relationships that have helped you to get to where you are today – and be open to meeting new people as you embark on your next adventure.

Your education has provided a strong foundation for whatever path you choose to follow. Now you get to choose the path, whether it is to continue your formal education or to learn while travelling the world or starting a job.

Enjoy your graduation; you have earned it! I wish you happiness and success in whatever path you choose to follow.

~ Ron Woznow, mayor, City of Powell River
