As 2023 comes to an end, I am thinking of all the conversations I had with people who wanted to share their concerns with me – about the cost of living, about international conflicts – our communities are struggling, and I know there is a lot more that must be done to help those in need.
Some concerns my NDP colleagues and I heard a lot about included how people cannot afford dental work or the medications they need. We were able to realize the biggest expansion in public health care in generations that will make a difference in the lives of over nine million Canadians. And we are continuing to work towards getting a universal, comprehensive and publicly administered pharmacare program implemented.
We also initiated anti-scabs legislation tabled by the government in the House of Commons and will continue to work hard to get this adopted.
I am extremely proud to serve North Island-Powell River and to represent your voices in Ottawa. I am looking forward to 2024 and will continue to work hard on your behalf to get more results.
I wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season and so much more in the new year.
