City of Powell River mayor Ron Woznow.

Season’s greetings, Powell River. I would like to express my gratitude for the privilege of serving as your mayor.

During 2023, I have had an opportunity to meet with residents, business owners and community organizations, including ratepayers groups, sports teams and seniors associations. I heard, firsthand, about their love of living in Powell River and what issues are most important to them – housing, taxes, roads and safety.

I have also had the opportunity to get to know all our councillors. While we have different priorities, I am confident that we will continue to work together to the benefit of our city.

Our community is in a period of transition. While what comes next is unclear, I know that 2024 will bring opportunities. My priorities will be to help attract new businesses to Powell River, identify partners who will develop some of the city's 150 properties for residential, commercial and light industrial spaces. These developments will include space for child-care centres and meeting rooms where young people can meet and interact over games and art.

In January, I hope to restart “Meet the Mayor” gatherings, where councillors and I look forward to answering your questions and hearing your ideas and concerns.

May you have a wonderful festive season with your family and friends.
