After an extended hiatus, BC Event Makers and Big West Wrestling returned to the qathet region on December 7 with a new venue, and crowned a new champion. Brooks Secondary School’s Cafeteria Hall was the backdrop for a night of wrestling and fundraising.
Marty Sugar survived a double-cross at the top of the show, at the hands of “The Gambler” Bryce Lowe. The reigning television champion lured Sugar into believing they were allies against Cremator and Rigor Von Slasher, only for all three men to attack the 22-year veteran. Luckily for Marty, he was rescued by “Big Rig” Jimmy Mitchell and former Powell River resident Dash Dauntless.
This skirmish lead to a long, gruelling, six-person tag-team match that saw Dauntless shock everyone when they pinned Gambler to win the match. By virtue of that upset, acting authority for the evening, Ramone Carlton, added Dauntless to the television title main event between Sugar and Gambler.
After the break, Cremator Von Slasher won a rough and tumble battle against Big Rig, thanks to inference from Rigor. While the 6’10” Cremator would disappear into the night, his little brother wasn’t done with Powell River.
In a raucous main event, Sugar overcame a severe back injury at the hands of Gambler to pin Dauntless and become a two-time television champion. Sugar barely got to hold the title before he was blindsided by Rigor Von Slasher, who stole the championship belt and left Sugar unable to leave ringside under his own power.
Aside from a night of wrestling, BC Event Makers raised $650 for Brooks Dry Grad. A cheque presentation is planned for when Big West returns to Brooks on February 6, 2025. That night will also feature the in-ring return of the popular Becky Beech. BigWestWrestling.com will have ticket information soon.
