Powell River Minor Hockey Association U18 Kings made the trip to Port McNeill to face Triport U18 North Island Eagles on Saturday, October 29.

The teams skated to a scoreless opening period, then the hosts took 1-0 and 2-1 leads in period two, with Braedyn Louie setting up Evan Piniewski for the Kings’ goal.

After Triport jumped out to a two-goal lead early in the third period, Louie picked up his second helper of the game, combining with Dreydan Harris to assist on Quinn Carlson’s first goal of the season with 9:35 remaining on the clock.

The comeback attempt was short-lived, however. The Eagles added an insurance marker just over a minute later and made the final 5-2 with an empty-net goal in the last minute of play.

U18 Kings are on the road again next weekend, with games in Oceanside on November 5 and Campbell River the following day.
