Powell River Regals made the first of two stops for weekend matchups against BC Intercollegiate Hockey League (BCIHL) teams on Friday, October 28, in Victoria.

University of Victoria (UVIC) Vikes, who are winless in BCIHL league play so far this season, were stingy hosts in the exhibition game, shutting out the senior AA Regals by a score of 5-0 at Victoria Racquet Club.

"We had a short bench with only 11 skaters," said Regals coach Tod English. "Friday night games are difficult for players who have work commitments at home. It's something we have to revisit in future scheduling."

Regals travel to Nanaimo to complete the road trip against Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners tonight (October 29).

We'll be icing a full roster of 20 players against VIU," added English.

Mariners are currently third in BCIHL standings behind Simon Fraser University and Okanagan Lakers.

In preparation for Coy Cup playoffs, which is the provincial championship at the senior AA level, Regals have scheduled games versus BCIHL clubs, in addition to other senior AA teams in BC.
