Powell River Kings’ forward Noah Eyre has made a commitment to play National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) hockey at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

“I can’t be more excited,” stated Eyre. “I can’t wait to go there.”

In his second season with the Kings, the 19-year-old has produced seven goals and 16 assists through 17 BC Hockey League (BCHL) games. His 23 points leads the team and puts him in a tie for third most points in the league.

Quinnipiac Bobcats have won three straight conference championships and collected their first national championship last season. This season, the Bobcats are the ranked 7th in the NCAA.

“They set a high bar there and I’m super excited to be a part of it in the future,” stated Eyre. “What sticks out to me is the coaching staff, the players, how they play, and their everyday attitude. I believe it will be a great fit for me.”

Eyre will follow in the footsteps of former Kings’ blueliner Jayden Lee (2018/2019), who was the last King to attend Quinnipiac. Lee was a key piece on the team’s run to the championship last season. Now in his fifth and final campaign, he was named team captain for 2023/2024.
