South Okanagan handed Powell River U18 Kings their first loss at the BC Hockey Tier 3 championship in Smithers on Tuesday, March 18.
Paxton Schreiber and Lucas Wadsworth scored for the Kings, who trailed 2-0 after the first period and 3-1 heading into period three. Wadsworth also assisted on Schreiber’s goal.
Powell River’s record is now 1-1 after opening the 10-team tournament with a win over Dawson Creek. South Okanagan is tied atop Pool B with Whistler (two wins each). U18 Kings are third, ahead of Smithers (0-2) and Dawson Creek (0-2).
Next up for the Kings is a pair of games on Wednesday, March 20, against Whistler (9:30 am) and Smithers (7:30 pm). Medal round games take place on March 20 and 21.
