Russell Pielle was born in 2001 and raised in Powell River. He played youth soccer from a young age, and the beautiful game has always been a big part of his life.
He played for Upper Island Riptide during high school. After taking a year off of soccer following high school, he was excited to join Powell River Villa in 2020.
Russell has enjoyed a great 2021/2022 Vancouver Island Soccer League season with the team, including scoring one goal in the 2-1 win over Comox United in November.
Villa is taking a break from Vancouver Island Soccer League Division 1 regular season action this weekend. On Sunday, February 27, the club meets Division 2’s Juan de Fuca Hellas in the first round of the annual Jackson Cup tournament, which was first held in 1915. The game takes place at Starlight Stadium in Langford.
