Grant began playing soccer in Powell River when he was five years old, making this his 26th year in the sport. He began in Powell River rep soccer, winning a silver medal in the Coastal Cup and a gold medal in provincials, as well as scoring the winning goal in the last game in 2014.
He played for the Titans Division 1 and 2 teams, as well as the Division 1 Hellcats in Saskatchewan. He played for the Mules in the Kelowna Men’s Soccer League, where he was top goal scorer for two seasons, and coached youth soccer for three years in Kelowna for the Okanagan Mission Youth Soccer Association.
Grant has played with Powell River Villa on and off since he was 21, in positions ranging from striker to centre back.
Villa’s next game takes place on Sunday, February 13, at Timberlane Park, when Victoria Highlanders FC travel to Powell River for a Vancouver Island Soccer League match. The game starts at 1:30 pm, with tickets available at the gate.
