In his second season playing for Powell River Regals, forward Matteo Porchetta is hoping to add to his list of championships.
Regals will host Coy Cup 2024, competed for by senior AA teams in BC, with three regional winners joining the home team at the tournament from March 26 to 30.
Porchetta was part of multiple successful playoff teams throughout his Powell River Minor Hockey Association career, including championships won in atom development, at the end of his second year of U13 and first year of U15, and his first and third seasons with the U18 Powell River Kings.
He lists Kris Letang of the Pittsburgh Penguins as his favourite player and former coach Jamie Burt for having the biggest influence on his development as a player. Matteo’s brother, Nic, is also a current member of the Regals.
Regals will continue a best-of-five McCallum Cup West Coast Senior Hockey championship series with Nanaimo Steelmen on March 8 and 9 at Hap Parker Arena. Nanaimo leads the series 1-0. Both games start at 7:30 pm.
