Powell River Kings head coach and director of hockey operations Glenn Anderson has resigned from his positions with the club for personal reasons, the BC Hockey League club announced on Thursday, October 24.

"I would have to miss a large portion of this season to juggle certain unexpected personal affairs and other part-time commitments that I took on years before joining the Kings," stated Anderson, in a media release. "This would be unfair to the players and the coaching staff who have worked exceptionally hard to prepare for and advance our team goals and objectives for this season. My decision does not come easy and has come on the heels of difficult considerations."

General manager Steven Seeger Junior has been named the new head coach. The club's vice president, Chad van Diemen, is assuming duties as director of hockey operations.

“Steph is an exceptionally capable coach and an insightful hockey mind," stated Anderson. "He will step in now to head up what we started and I have no reservations or worries in that regard.

"The hardest part of all of this is leaving the players, all of whom have been willing to sacrifice and work hard since we began this year."

Anderson won six Stanley Cups during his professional career, five with the Edmonton Oilers and one with the New York Rangers.

Powell River currently sits in 10th place in the 10-team BCHL Coastal Conference with a record of two wins, seven regulation losses and a pair losses in overtime.
