Powell River Kings post first win of BC Hockey League season

A trio of assists by Thomas Belzil helped lead Powell River Kings to a 4-2 win over Langley Rivermen on Friday, October 4, at Hap Parker Arena. The three point night also propelled the Kings’ forward into a tie for second place in BC Hockey League scoring.

Tommy Karmiris scored a pair of goals for Powell River, including an insurance marker into an empty net in the final minute of play. Ryan Arnold and Calvin Beard had the other goals for the victorious home team, which picked up its first win of the BC Hockey League season. 

Karmiris, who also helped set up a goal, was named first star of the game ahead of goaltender Vincent Lamberti, who turned aside 25 of the 27 shots he faced to earn the win. Beard received third star recognition for his two point night (one goal, one assist).

Belzil has 10 points (two goals, eight assists) through the first five games of the season. Attendance was 830.
