Last minute goal lifts Chilliwack over Powell River Kings

Chiefs notch winning tally late in third period to earn two points in BC Hockey League standings

Powell River Kings’ forward Anthony Yu [above] assisted on a pair of goals in Chilliwack on Saturday, November 18, to move into a tie with teammate Noah Eyre for leading the BC Hockey League (BCHL) club in points.

Christian Maro, Joonas Linnavuori, Adam Mendelson and Jace Harder scored for the Kings, who were edged 5-4 at Chilliwack Coliseum. Kailus Green also helped set up two goals for the visitors. Zach Rizzo, Zander Stewart and Eyre recorded one assist each.

Yu was selected as the game’s third start behind two members of the Chiefs, who scored the winning goal with just 46 seconds remaining in the game. Attendance was 2,014.

The two teams will meet again this weekend at Hap Parker Arena. Game times on Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25, are 7 pm. Chilliwack is sixth in BCHL Coastal Conference standings, seven points ahead of the eighth place Kings.
