EYE ON THE PRIZE: Powell River Kings’ forward Anthony Lucarelli and Langley Rivermen goaltender Jameson Kaine have eyes on a loose pick in front of the visiting team’s net during a BCHockey League game at Hap Parker Arena on Saturday, February 19.

Powell River Kings jumped out to an early 1-0 lead early over the visiting Langley Rivermen on Saturday, February 19, and made it 2-0 in the third period before the top team in BC Hockey League’s Coastal Conference stormed back to post a second straight one goal win over the hosts.

Nic Porchetta opened the scoring five minutes into the first period, and after a scoreless second, Karter McNarland doubled the lead three and a half minutes into the third period to stake the Kings to the two goal lead.

Just 11 seconds later, Langley scored the first of a trio of goals in a span of three minutes and 39 seconds en route to a 3-2, come-from-behind win. Owen Kim scored first for the visitors, followed by a pair from Andrej Kovecevic.

Shots were even at 42 apiece. Jameson Kaine made one more save than Kings’ goalie Zak Brice, who was named the game’s third star behind Kovecevic (first) and Kaine.

Jason Marsella, Caleb Parkhouse, Hunter Andrew and Parker Lalonde picked up assists for Powell River.

Attendance at Hap Parker Arena was 720.

Kings travel to Vancouver Island this weekend for a game in Port Alberni (February 25) before the first of three straight against Cowichan Valley, in Duncan February 26 and 27, and at home March 2.
