Alberni Valley rallies from two-goal deficit to defeat Powell River Kings

Powell River Kings started a three-game road trip in promising fashion on Friday, February 25, by taking a two-goal lead over Alberni Valley Bulldogs in front of 1,024 fans at Weyerhaeuser Arena.

Ethan Riesterer scored the only goal of the first period, followed by Anthonly Lucarelli’s 10th of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) season 2:31 into period two, which doubled the lead.

Momentum shifted at the midway point of the game when the home team cut the deficit in half at the 9:55 mark. Alberni knotted the game at two goals apiece at 10:12 of the third period to force overtime, where they outshot Powell River 3-0 and scored the game-winning goal at 2:16 for a 3-2 win.

Kaleb Nelson, Caleb Parkhouse and Nic Porchetta picked up assists for the Kings. Overall shots were 33-26 in favour of the Bulldogs.

Kings face Cowichan Valley Capitals in Duncan on Saturday, February 26 (7 pm), and Sunday, February 27 (2 pm), before returning home to host the Capitals at Hap Parker Arena on Wednesday, March 2 (7 pm).
