Born in Belleville, Ontario, Rob headed west as a young man and never looked back. Eventually he arrived in Powell River, making it his permanent home for the next 25 years.
He was predeceased by his infant daughter Jackie, his parents Norein and Joseph (Bud) Woods and his sister Lynda Maher.
Rob enjoyed his chosen career as a boilermaker, and he especially enjoyed meeting up with co-workers at various job sites throughout BC and Alberta.
Rob was an avid motorcyclist and took great pleasure in going on rides with fellow enthusiasts, which often ended with many fanciful tales and much laughter.
