On Tuesday, April 30, we said goodbye to this wonderful man. We are immensely grateful for the time spent together, the memories made, and the laughs enjoyed.
Leo had an amazing memory and loved telling stories of his youth. We would sit for hours while he recounted in detail the various adventures of his past. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed this activity for many years with his wife, sons and grandsons. He was content being outdoors, whether it was skiing, kayaking or just hiking. He was also a tinkerer, and always had one or two projects on the go.
Throughout his retirement years, he travelled extensively in the USA, enjoying the warm weather the south had to offer. His preferred location was Yuma, Arizona, where he welcomed many visitors. His door was always open.
Lionel was a dedicated family man and he loved being surrounded by them. He is survived by his wife and loving partner of 59 years Noella; his children Cleo (Ginette), Liette (Noel), Elise, Giselle, Claude (Suzanne), Theresa (Mike), Louis (Leslie), Lillian (Roland) and Julie (Ken); 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; as well as three sisters Elizabeth, Marie (Jean-Guy) and Pierrette.
Lionel was predeceased by his first wife Cecile; his son Pierre; his grandson Marcel; and his son-in-law Peter Mackisey. He will be deeply missed.
Always in our thoughts and forever in our hearts. No flowers or service by request. Donations, if desired, can be made to the BC Wildlife Federation, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Canadian Cancer Society.
