It is with great sadness that the family of Leanne Crystal Kerntopf announces her sudden passing on September 4, 2024, after a brief illness.
She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her boys, son Maddox and nephew Caustin; her father Bruno; her mother Shelley; stepmother Elaine; sister Jennifer; stepsisters Cheri and Michelle; and her nieces Akila and Ryelynn. Leanne will also be missed by her many friends and by her colleagues and clients at Powell River Brain Injury Society. She was predeceased by her partner Aaron Lawrence and her brother Leslie Brownjohn.
Leanne was born in Powell River and spent her childhood on Texada Island. After a brief time spent away, seeking education and adventure, Leanne returned to Powell River to make a permanent home for herself and her son.
Determined to pursue a meaningful career, Leanne went to work for the brain injury society while advancing her online studies with the goal of achieving a degree in social work. Recently, Leanne was promoted to the position of director of Powell River Brain Injury Society.
Leanne loved animals, gardening and a good laugh!
A service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 1 pm, in the Jervis Room at the Town Centre Hotel in Powell River.
The family would like to acknowledge all the hardworking emergency room medical staff at qathet General Hospital, the team of BC Air Ambulance staff, and the Intensive Care Unit staff at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.
