Simone passed away peacefully at Willingdon Creek Village surrounded by the support of staff and family. She was born in Frederick House, Ontario, to Marie-Anne and Ernest Bourassa. Simone was one of 10 children.

She moved to Maillardville, BC, where at 15 years of age she met the love of her life, John Trepanier. After getting married in 1950, they lived and travelled to many different parts of BC logging, and did a stint in Ontario, and back to BC where they finally settled in Powell River around 1957. Their daughter Jannine was born in Port Alberni in 1954.

Sadly, Simone was predeceased by her husband of 72 years John; and all nine of her sisters and brothers were also predeceased. She loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law Réal and Jannine Sigouin; her grandson Kevin Sigouin (Liane); granddaughter Jennifer Sigouin Drosdovech (Mikhael); as well as great-grandchildren Emma and Jacob Gustafson, Payton and Paige Sigouin; many nieces and nephews; and also those who had the opportunity to live with her and John over the years: Homer, Gay, Robert, Anne, Carmen and Bernice Trepanier; and Linda and Eddie Dennis.

Simone and John were never afraid of work and after retiring; they enjoyed digging for gold in the interior of BC. They enjoyed spending time on the Fraser River and in the Soda Creek area in the summer looking for gold nuggets. They enjoyed hunting, building houses and spending their winters as snowbirds in Arizona. Simone had a great life and will be missed by everyone who knew her.

We wish to thank Dr. Martin Andreae for his care over many years as well as the Willingdon Creek Village staff in her final days.

A mass will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Church of the Assumption. Graveyard burial to follow. No reception. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Powell River Community Foundation in memory of Simone Trepanier at prcommunityfoundation.com.
