Frank passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23, in Comox at the age of 93.

We are grateful that he is finally free of pain and suffering and has been reunited with those who went before him: parents Helen and Victor Price; brothers Bill and Ron; first wife Joyce (McGill) Price; second wife Lily (Hoy) Price; son Dale Bassett-Price; and many wonderful friends. He is survived by daughter Lorrie Shaw (Garry); son Steve Price (Michele Sanders) of Victoria; stepchildren Tova Orr (Darryl) of Coquitlam, Kent Webster (Terry) of Delta and Paris Webster (Sheila Szonyi) of Nanaimo; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Frank was born and raised in Powell River and, after short stints in Quesnel, Prince George and Vancouver, returned home with Joyce in 1959 to raise their young family. Here, Frank received his CA designation and established a successful accounting practice.

After Joyce’s passing in 1977, Frank married longtime family friend Lily and relocated to Burnaby. He then started working with Powell River friend Peter Toigo. Together, they collaborated to develop Shato Holdings into the vibrant, successful enterprise that it is today, an accomplishment that Frank was extremely proud of.

Retirement took Frank and Lil to the Comox Valley and they spent many happy years in their home on Zerkee Place in Courtenay. Lil passed away in 2021, and Frank later moved to the Berwick Residence in Comox, where he enjoyed meeting new people and trying out new activities.

Frank was a dedicated Lions Club member for more than 50 years and received several prestigious awards and commendations. Music was always an important part of Frank’s life, and he was a member of the Powell River and Delta community bands as well as the Comox Valley Concert Band, eventually retiring his clarinet at the wonderful age of 91. Recently, Frank was thrilled to finally sing in a choir - the Berwick Comox Valley Choir directed by Wendy Nixon Stothert - which he enjoyed immensely.

We would sincerely like to thank the dedication of niece Val Moore, friend Jason Fowler, Dr. Reggler, Dr. Holselton and staff at Sea Cove Medical Clinic, and the Berwick staff, who provided wonderful care for Frank, especially during the past several challenging months.

As per Frank’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Frank’s memory to The Salvation Army.
