Predeceased by his wife, Diane, Claude is survived by his daughter Natalie (Jefferson) and son Christopher, as well as grandsons Thomas and William.

Claude was born in Montreal, QC, and made his way to BC as soon as he could, settling in Vancouver where he met the love of his life, Diane, and they raised Christopher and Natalie. During this time, Claude was a founding member and volunteer for many years with The Kettle Friendship Society, which empowers people facing mental illness and substance use challenges. The family moved to Diane’s hometown of Powell River in 1998 to enjoy a safer/slower-paced city.

Claude was a diehard hockey lover, a true Canadiens fan, and gained great pleasure from coaching different age groups. He was never afraid to strike up a conversation with anyone.

Claude was outspoken and sometimes, a little too loud. He was always trying to find ways to be part of the Powell River community and was very fond of his community at The Source Club Society, along with his membership with Knights of Columbus and of his belonging to Church of the Assumption.

Claude faced an unfair share of physical and mental health challenges in his 71 years but was sure never to give up. His family will always be proud of him for this.

“You will always be remembered, Dad. We love you!”

A service will be held for Claude at the Church of the Assumption on Saturday, April 29, at 1 pm.
