It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Charlene Anderson (née Ruedig) on August 22, 2024, following a long battle with brain cancer. Charlene passed away peacefully at home, with her children and husband embracing her.

Charlene was born September 24, 1983, in Powell River, to her proud, first-time parents, Gordon and Yvette Ruedig. Charlene graduated from Max Cameron Secondary School in 2001, before pursuing a life of caring for others. As a mother, daughter, sister, auntie, wife, friend and community care aide, she spread love, support and encouragement to those lucky to meet her.

Charlene enjoyed life and was an avid rock climber, hiker and photographer with a love for puzzles, cross-stitching and reading.

Charlene was predeceased by her mother Yvette Ruedig and grandparents Bill, Ruby, Noella and Henry. She will be remembered dearly by her children William and Elizabeth, husband Chris, father Gordon, sister Sharon (Garrett), nephew and niece Jacob and Adalyn, father- and mother-in-law Bruce and Mary; as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family.

We thank all our friends and family who have given us their time and support, as well as some amazing community organizations. Staff and co-workers with qathet General Hospital and the Co-operators, Red Cross, 22 Red Knight Squadron and qathet School District.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 2 to 5 pm at the Star Dusters Hall (Rancho) at 5399 Timberlane Avenue in Powell River. All are welcome to attend. The family can be contacted at [email protected] for further details.
