Powell River RCMP have arrested two men in relation to a number of break and enters that have occurred throughout Powell River in the last couple of weeks.

Cody Mostat, 21, has been charged with three counts of break and enter, four counts of theft and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Bryce Adams, 20, has been charged with three counts of break and enter, three counts of theft, one count of possession of stolen property and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Police located and seized numerous stolen items worth more than $5,000 including seven electric downriggers, two wakeboards, a chainsaw and numerous fishing rods and tackle boxes.

RCMP are still investigating and more charges are pending.


Zero tolerance

BC Ferries has a zero tolerance policy for passengers drinking alcohol or using drugs on its ships or terminals.

Over the Canada Day long weekend the ferry corporation dealt with seven different incidents of passengers under the influence.

BC Ferries takes reports of persons suspected of operating their vehicles under the influence seriously and works with local police to bring the offence to the attention of the authorities.


Consultation postponed

Powell River Regional District has postponed its fourth public consultation on the Regional Transportation Plan initiative. The consultation was to take place tonight, Wednesday, July 10, at Sliammon Salish Centre, and will be held at a later date, to be announced.
