Powell River RCMP receive fraud report related to BC Hydro

Powell River RCMP received a report of a BC Hydro fraud on September 27. A Texada Island resident received a call from a person who stated he was from BC Hydro. The person advised that he would be cutting off their hydro if an outstanding bill for a replacement meter was not paid. The resident called the number provided and got a recording that appeared to be BC Hydro.

RCMP want to remind residents not to send money or provide any personal or banking information to any unsolicited caller. If you have concerns about your account, look up the legitimate phone number yourself and call the company, or call Powell River RCMP.
