Powell River RCMP reported the following for September 20 to 27, 2023.

Total calls for service: 112
Thefts: 8
Break and enter: 0
Impaired driving: 2 
Assaults: 5
Mischief: 1
Mental health: 11

September 23; Alberni Street
Powell River RCMP responded to a report of a female breaching her conditions, which state that she is not to be at Shoppers Drug Mart. Police located the 25-year-old female, identified as Erika Browett, inside the store and she was arrested for failing to comply with a release order. After further investigation, police discovered that she had stolen items on her and she was arrested for theft under $5,000. Browett was remanded into custody until her next court appearance in October.  

September 23; Tahsis Street
At approximately 8:20 am, Powell River RCMP received a report that a youth’s bike had been stolen from the carport of a residence on Tahsis Street sometime overnight. Video was reviewed and it was determined that the bike was stolen at 1:12 am. The bike was later recovered abandoned on Joyce Avenue. Police would like to remind all residents to keep all exterior doors and windows locked, to keep garages and vehicles locked when not in use and to keep valuable items out of sight and locked up.  

September 27; qathet
Cops for Cancer riders and support teams were in the qathet region on September 18 and made several stops throughout the day. With the support of the community, local rider constable Alex McNulty raised more than $15,000 for paediatric cancer research and to support children and families living with cancer. An enormous thank you to Alex and all the community members and businesses who participated and generously donated their time, funds and services for this inspiring event.
