While conducting a traffic stop and interacting with the driver of a 2010 Cadillac CTS, officers from the Powell River detachment noted drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and the vehicle was searched. The search located a large amount of crystal meth and an undisclosed amount of cash. The 29-year-old female from Dawson Creek was issued a court date of January 7, 2020, to answer to the charge of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The vehicle was seized as offence-related property.
October 3; Homalco Road, 6600 block
At approximately 8 pm, police received a report of a break and enter. The owner had just returned home after being away to find her home broken into. The unknown suspect(s) broke a window to gain access to the house and once inside stole various food items.
October 5; Egmont Street
At approximately 2 pm, an officer on patrol noted a Chevrolet Equinox westbound on Egmont Street. When the plate was queried on the police database it was learned the vehicle was not insured, so the officer conducted a traffic check. The male driver failed to produce a driver’s licence and it was determined he was a prohibited driver. The 44-year-old Powell River resident is now facing charges of driving while prohibited. He was also issued an indefinite licence suspension, a violation ticket for driving a motor vehicle without insurance and the vehicle, which did not belong to him, was impounded for seven days.
