AFTER WIND: A wind storm blew down a large tree at Second Beach recently. However, this last week of February in qathet, has been sunny and calm. Today, Wednesday, February 26, there will be a mix of sun and cloud and a high temperature of 11 degrees Celsius.

After wind and rain, the sun has come out in the qathet region and warmer temperatures can be felt, melting away the month of  deep freeze.

Today, February 26, the daytime temperature will rise to 11 degrees, and fall to nine degrees at night. There will be a mix of sun and cloud, but Weatherhood is not predicting rain for today. The sun is setting noticeably later these days, and will set at 5:57 pm this evening and rise tomorrow morning at 7:02 am.

There are just over 20 days until the spring equinox arrives. There is a 36 per cent chance of rain for Thursday, February 27. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the forecast indicates a mix of sun and cloud, with a small chance of showers with daytime temperatures hovering around 11 and 12 degrees.

The winter Powell River Farmers' Market (PRFM) is back in full swing inside the quonset hut this coming Sunday, March 2.

The PRFM team send a message to the qathet community on social media:

"There seems to be lots of talk about shopping locally these days, which is what we're all about. Farmers' markets are a great place to purchase from small businesses and be part of the local economy."

The market now has a monthly draw for $50 in market dollars that people can enter while at the weekly market.

The Powell River Farmers' Market is located 4365 McLeod Road, corner of Padgett Road, on Sunday from 12:30 to 2:30 pm.
