IMPRESSIVE RECORD: qathet School District has appointed Vianne Kintzinger as interim superintendent of schools. The former Powell River resident has extensive experience in British Columbia schools.

qathet School District (qSD) board of trustees has announced the appointment of Vianne Kintzinger as interim superintendent of schools.

Kintzinger will support the district while recruitment for the permanent superintendent is underway, according to a qSD media release.

“Vianne’s experience will be invaluable to us during this significant time of transition for our district,” stated Jaclyn Miller, chair of qSD’s board of education. “Her impressive track record ensures that the teams will have the capacity to maintain their excellent work while also benefiting from experienced support and guidance that is readily available.”

Kintzinger served as assistant superintendent and director of instruction for Central Okanagan Public Schools, where she led numerous initiatives to support student learning, staff development, and community engagement, the release stated. She has also held principal and vice-principal positions across various elementary and secondary schools, contributing significantly to their academic and operational success, according to the release. Her involvement extended to many committees and partnerships, including BCIT, Okanagan College, University of British Columbia Okanagan, City of Kelowna, and the Canadian Mental Health Association. Kintzinger grew up in Powell River and is looking forward to returning to the community.

The board of education has also recently engaged PFM Executive Search to lead the recruitment process for qSD’s new superintendent. Consultations with key groups will begin immediately with a target to have the candidate profile posted publicly in August.

"We are eager to collaborate with a recruiter like PFM, who has sector-specific experience and a proven track record of placing superintendents within our province," stated Miller. "This is a pivotal moment for our district. With Vianne and PFM as partners, we are confident that our well-structured process will ensure success both in the short term and long term.”

qSD announced in mid-June that former superintendent of schools Dr. Jay Yule would be leaving his position.
