NEW ROLE: New president of the BC Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association Dr. Shannon Behan will move into a two-year term in July, and take leave from her current position as principal at Westview Elementary School.

Westview Elementary School principal from the qathet School District (qSD) Dr. Shannon Behan, is officially stepping into her role as the 2024 to 2026 BC Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association (BCPVPA) president, as of July 1, 2024.

According to a media release from the BCPVPA, Brian Leonard (SD43, Coquitlam) will conclude his two-year term as president on June 30, and moves into the role of past-president on the BCPVPA board of directors.

"On July 1, the BC Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association welcomes our 2024 to 2025 board of directors, with members representing school and district-based administrators in the province’s kindergarten to grade 12 public school system," stated the media release.

"Dr. Shannon Behan (qSD) is the 2024 to 2026 BCPVPA president. Over the past 28 years, Shannon has served as a teacher, counsellor, and vice-principal, and as a principal at a school, district, and international level."

BCPVPA also announced the 2024 to 2025 directors of the board:

Renee Hislop (SD62, Sooke)

Sid Jawanda (SD57, Prince George)

Sanj Johal (SD44, North Vancouver)

Paul Marsden (SD36, Surrey)

Charity Peal (SD92, Nisga’a)

Tina Pierik (SD61, Victoria)

Aaron Thorn (SD5, Southeast Kootenay)

Navshina Savory (SD38, Richmond)

Bryn Williams (SD43, Coquitlam)
