School District 47 (SD47) hosted its spring cross-country meet at Edgehill Elementary School on Thursday, April 13.
Grade 2 to 7 students from around the district participated in the race which began at the start line, flanked by two coyote decoys. First up were the grade 2/3 girls; Arianna Goebel, a grade three student from Henderson Elementary School, came in first place, girls. Micah Culos, grade 2/3, boys came in first from Westview elementary.
SD47 schools involved included Edgehill, Westview, James Thomson, Henderson and Kelly Creek; Students from Assumption School, École Côte-du-Soleil and Powell River Christian School also participated.
“We [Henderson] also had a grade seven girl come in first, Téa Nordman, and a grade six girl come in first, Dana Brown,” said Henderson principal Matthew Hull. “Super proud of all our racers, in particular our girls.”
