Performers will be welcomed to stroll a red carpet and pause so friends and family can take photos prior to qathet Festival of the Performing Arts’ Grand Concert. It takes place on Saturday, March 8, in Evergreen Theatre at Powell River Recreation Complex, beginning at 7 pm.
Audience members and performers are encouraged to come early for the pre-event red carpet and photo opportunity.
Three members of the organizing committee, Julian Alphilbert, Robin Morrison and Rebecca Wulkan have been working on ideas to “glitter up” the event, according to Alphilbert, who is emcee for the concert. Between the three of them they have been strategizing opportunities.
“We’ve just had the Academy Awards and Oscar presentations on Sunday, so I invite people to dress up for our own qathet culture extravaganza,” said Alphilbert.
Tickets are available from Powell River Academy of Music in person and online, the Peak newspaper office or at the door. There is also an opportunity to donate via e-transfer [email protected] to support the oldest festival in qathet, which is taking place for the 81st time.
