Santa loses track of time
Rylee Mair, Grade 4
Westview Elementary School
Not so long ago, there lived a woman named Rose and her daughters, Hazel and Fern.
When December 24 came, Hazel and Fern were incredibly excited, they were practically screaming!
Every year Hazel made tons of cookies for Santa, and Fern made a cedar basket and grew carrots for the reindeer. They worked busily on their gifts all day and when it was time to go to bed, Hazel and Fern got ready and snuggled into their blankets.
Meanwhile, plop! Down the chimney went Santa. He popped a cookie into his mouth. “Yummy!” says Santa. Two hours later, “These little cookies are delish! Oh my, I lost track of time!”
Creeeeak... Hazel opened the door and peered out.
“Santa!” she gasped.
“Oh, Hazel, I’m running a bit late,” gasped Santa. “Could you do me a favour?”
“Sure Santa!” Hazel answered excitedly.
“Um, well, I got a little distracted. Can you help me deliver some presents?”
“Yes!” Hazel exclaimed. “Just let me get my sister…Fern!”
“Yes?” mumbled Fern sleepily, stumbingling into the living room.
“Santa needs our help!” Hazel replied. “Ok!” said Fern.
“Let’s go!” Santa said, “up up and away!”
They climbed up the chimney and hopped into the sleigh.
Together they delivered the presents ultra fast. They worked until the sky tinged pink as the sun rose.

The missing presents
Solace Connell, Grade 4
James Thomson Elementary School
Last year, at Christmas Day, Santa didn’t deliver presents to anyone in the world!
People in Africa found a sled in the snow. Days later alien saucers had been spotted in New York.
Military forces were stepping in for safety. Even an 11-foot zomby has been lurking in the shadows with a kid on its back!
Two days later, all the presents were there. People still don’t know what happened.

Once upon a time in Canada, Santa was in his sleigh. He wanted to deliver all the presents to the kids in Canada.
Just then, he heard a noise, his sleigh began to tremble. Santa’s sleigh fell to the ground!
The noise was so loud that two kids woke up, their names were Ashland and Nelson. They went outside and saw Santa.
They said, “Santa! We're going to help you!” And they got in the sleigh.
Santa said, “Thanks for helping me.” And they took off.
They delivered all the presents and then he gave the kids a ride home. He was going home but he realized that he had forgotten a present.
One of the elves said, “It’s just one kid.”
But Santa said, “Everyone matters, so he delivered the present.
The end!

A Night in the Woods
Amétys Bergeron, Grade 4
École Côte du Soleil
Once upon a time, in the woods, there was Santa. It was Christmas night.
He wanted to test out his sled. But he crashed because Rudolph fell asleep. Santa was stuck in the woods on Christmas night for one hour.
Finally, three elves arrived on a piece of wood. Three elves helped him to build the new sled. It was hard work but they finally made it. They helped and they helped to get it started; it wouldn’t work right away but it eventually started after four tries.
The three elves asked: “Santa, can we please come with you?”
“With all the help you have given me,” said Santa, “yes, of course you can come with me!”
Santa thought they really had an evil look on their faces.
Santa was thinking about their faces that they made. A little bit after that, the three elves tried to steal the Christmas presents.
Santa said “No, give the Christmas gifts back!”
They tried to jump off the sled, but Santa caught one of them. They all hooked on to each other. Santa brought them back up and they said: “We’re sorry, it’s just that all the presents looked so big, interesting and two of them smelled so good! Can we still come with you? We promise we’ll be good this time.”
“Yes you can,”said Santa. “I give you one more chance.”
And they delivered all the gifts. Then they went back home and had hot chocolate.
