On this day:
In 1905, Albert Einstein submitted a paper outlining his theory of special relativity, which comprises the currently accepted theory about the relationship between space and time. The theory of special relativity was the basis for his theory of general relativity, which he published 11 years later.

In 1936, author Margaret Mitchell’s classic novel Gone with the Wind was published.

In 1971, three cosmonauts aboard Soviet spacecraft Soyuz 11 died after a loss of air supply due to a faulty valve.

Today’s weather:
Mainly sunny skies are expected on Friday, June 30, when a high of 23 degrees Celsius is in the forecast during the day, dropping to 13 degrees in the evening, when a few clouds are forecast to roll in. For the full 12-hour and seven-day qathet region weather forecast, go to our weather page.

In case you missed it…
